Special Interests -- Adults at Disney

Hey, newsflash! Disney isn't just for families. Disney is a great place for adults, whether you are looking for a laid back and relaxing pace, or you are eager to try all the thrill rides at least twice. Now, if you're an adult like me, the whole charm in going to Walt Disney World is that you can feel carefree, like a kid. If you feel like being a kid - well, heck, that's easy. If you feel like having a "grown up" experience, here are a few suggestions.

  • Deluxe Resorts are more sophisticated than the Value and Moderate Resorts.
  • For golfing enthusiasts, Disney courses are award winning!
  • Pleasure Island is a great place to dance and enjoy nighttime entertainment
  • Several of the Deluxe Resorts offer exceptional spa services
  • Epcot offers gorgeous gardens, fun international shopping, and excellent dining venues. A couple of days at Epcot at a relaxed pace is perfect for couples.

Romantic Disney
Walt Disney World can certainly offer enough special memories and unique experiences to make for an unforgettable romantic getaway for two.

  • This is what I'd recommend.
Plan on a short, 3-night stay, staying at one of the better Deluxe Resorts. My picks are (in this order): Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk, Polynesian, and Wilderness Lodge.

Pay extra for the premium view accommodations. The Savannah view at the Animal Kingdom is a MUST. Premium view rooms invite lingering conversations on the balcony and set the tone for a romantic getaway.
  • Order room service for at least one breakfast during your stay.
  • Plan on a romantic dinner for each night of your stay. The most romantic include: Victoria & Albert's (Grand Floridian), California Grille (Contemporary), Jiko's (Animal Kingdom Lodge), Artist's Point (Wilderness Lodge), and the French pavilion restaurants in Epcot. You'll earn bonus points for coordinating your meal times with the fireworks.
  • Concentrate your focus on Epcot. Because of the size of this park, you can sleep in and still enjoy the parks without too much of a crowd.
  • Both of you deserve a massage at one of the resort spas.
  • Ask your travel agent to arrange for a floral delivery.
  • Leisure time during the day can be spent poolside. For night life, enjoy Pleasure Island.

For the couple traveling with children, take advantage of the childcare program so that you can have a special dinner for two at your resort restaurant.
