Review: Disney's Yacht and Beach Clubs
Darlings
among the Disney Resort lineup are the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.
These resorts offer roomy and elegant rooms, an incredible pool,
a pleasant selection of dining venues, and an outstanding location
adjacent to Epcot.
The
Yacht and Beach Clubs are built together as one resort complex,
sharing a long lobby area, parking facilities, and swimming pool
and recreation facilities. Once you cross over into the other resort
area, you'll see slightly different themeing. Otherwise, these two
resorts are seamless.
Overall,
both resorts are reminescent of a bygone era of the New England
beachside country clubs. The Yacht Club is more nautical while the
Beach Club is (you guessed it) more beachy. Buildings are wooden
clapboard exteriors
The
three acre swimming pool here is unquestionably the best among Walt
Disney Resorts. Waterslides, a kiddie pool, waterfalls, a sandy
bottom, seven whirlpools, and a separate current pool makes this
pool something akin to a small water park. There's a marina onsite
as well, and boats are available for rent.
At
381 square feet, rooms are pleasant, airy, and spacious. If you're
lucky, you might have a view from your room of the fireworks at
Epcot.
Service
is friendly and upbeat. There are some great restaurants to choose
from. Cape May Cafe offers an excellent seafood buffet nightly,
and is a good deal for the money. I've heard good things about Yachtsman
Steakhouse, but so far I haven't tried it. You'll definitely want
ice cream at the popular Beaches and Cream Soda Shop. And there's
also a poolside counter service option -- Hurricane Hanna's Grill.
All in all, you'll find nine restaurants and bars with many of Epcot's
better restaurants close by.
At
Yacht and Beach Club, you'll have easy access to Epcot, with the
back entrance (next to the France Pavillion) a short walk away.
Prices
start at around $300 per night and go up depending on room category
and time of year you're traveling, so it's one of Disney's pricier
resort choices.
